But I say, walk
by the Spirit and do not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit and the desires
of the Spirit are against the flesh; for these are opposed to each other, to prevent you from doing what you would. But if
you are led by the Spirit you are not under the law.
Now the works of
the flesh are plain: fornication, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, drunkenness, carousing and
the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the
fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such
there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Galatians
5:16-24
So shun youthful
passions and aim at rightiousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call upon the Lord from a pure heart. Have
nothing to do with stupid, senseless controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not be
quarrelsome, but kindly to everyone, an apt teacher, forbearing, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps
grant that they will repent and come to know the truth, and they may escape from the snare of the devil after being captured
by him to do his will. 2 Timothy 2:14-26
